Hitachi top-load washing machine strip-down clean in Hang Dong: thick scale on the pulsator base

The bottom of the outer tub was covered in brown deposits, the back of the pulsator had black grime in every groove between its ribs, and the pulsator mounting base had scale built up so thick it had formed lumps.

What I did

Test-ran the machine before dismantling
Removed the pulsator, inner tub and every other part, laying them out in order on a tarp
Scrubbed the scale off the pulsator base and out of the grooves between the ribs
Cleaned the outer tub down to the bottom
Reassembled, levelled and ran a test cycle

Result

The pulsator and the bottom of the outer tub are clean and white again; every part was cleaned and all of them were refitted.
